Two reviewed questions: 14–20 September
Two questions to revisit from 14–20 September. Choose your answers, then reveal the explanations.
Question 1
Which type of dry dehiscent fruit splits along only one suture, releasing its seeds, as seen in Calotropis?
A. Legume
B. Follicle
C. Silique
D. Capsule
Choose A–D and explain why before revealing the answer.
Reveal answer, explanation and observed counts
Answer: B — Follicle. A follicle develops from one carpel and opens along one suture. Calotropis bears follicles. A typical pea legume opens along two sutures; this is not a claim about every legume species. A silique has two carpels and leaves a persistent replum after its valves separate. A capsule develops from two or more fused carpels and may open in several ways. The source's claims that learners commonly confuse these categories were not established by these response counts.
Observed original-item records, 14–20 September IST answer-calendar window: 4 correct, 14 server-marked wrong / 18 answered (77.78% wrong), plus 3 explicit skips. A=9, B=4, C=0, D=5. Leading wrong option A: 9/18 answered (50.00%) or 9/14 wrong (64.29%). These denominators differ. Counts do not show why an option was chosen.

Question 2
The escape velocity from the Earth's surface is v. The escape velocity from the surface of another planet having a radius, four times that of Earth and same mass density is :
A. 2 v
B. 3 v
C. 4 v
D. v
Choose A–D and explain why before revealing the answer.
Reveal answer, explanation and observed counts
Answer: C — 4 v. In the usual spherical-planet model, neglect rotation, air resistance and other bodies' gravity. Escape speed is vₑ=√(2GM/R). Equal mean density gives M′/M=(R′/R)³=4³=64, so v′/v=√(64/4)=4.
Explanation correction: the stored explanation associated 2 v with holding mass fixed. At fixed mass and radius 4R, escape speed would instead be v/2. Equal density does not mean equal mass. The key remains C; option counts do not reveal which assumption a learner used.
Observed original-item records, 14–20 September IST answer-calendar window: 5 correct, 15 server-marked wrong / 20 answered (75.00% wrong), plus 5 explicit skips. A=9, B=1, C=5, D=5. Leading wrong option A: 9/20 answered (45.00%) or 9/15 wrong (60.00%). These denominators differ. Counts do not show why an option was chosen.

How we selected these questions
Two reviewed questions from September 14–20 IST, after source and current-syllabus checks. These are raw ranks 3 and 5, not an unfiltered top-three list. Ozone is excluded for ambiguity and a current-scope gap; acidic permanganate remains on hold because its unique-answer explanation is unvalidated. The diamagnetic-rod item is also on hold: the original stem does not clearly distinguish the ultimate energy source from energy storage or transfer. No historical wrong-rate is attached to a clarified variant.
Sampling and limits
First responses per account to the matched question/key within the named window; partial sessions included, staff/test closure and unknown bindings excluded. Unreached items are not skips. Accounts are not verified unique students. Response language is unknown; no EN/HI comparison is supported. Statistics belong to the original served item, not this revised explanation. Snapshot: 21 September 2026, 09:43:44.889 IST; latest event 09:15:34.770 IST. Late arrivals can change counts.
