PrepArena ("we", "us", "our") operates the PrepArena mobile application and website (preparena.in). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our app and services.

2. Information We Collect

Information you provide

• Phone number (used for account creation and login via OTP)
• Display name and profile photo (optional)
• Feedback, support requests, and communications you send us

Information collected automatically

• Game activity: answers submitted, scores, PAR rating, streaks, badges earned
• App usage data: features used, session duration, screens viewed
• Device information: device model, OS version, app version
• Approximate location (country/state level, derived from IP address, never GPS)

Information we do NOT collect

• Precise GPS location
• Contacts or address book
• Photos, camera, or microphone access
• Financial information (payments are processed by Apple/Google)

3. How We Use Your Information

• Authenticate your identity and manage your account
• Provide game functionality: matchmaking, leaderboards, ratings, challenges
• Track your learning progress and generate analytics dashboards
• Send game notifications (challenge invites, match results, streak reminders)
• Improve our app, fix bugs, and develop new features
• Respond to your support requests
• Comply with legal obligations

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with:

• Service providers — Supabase (authentication), AWS (hosting and infrastructure), analytics tools — bound by data processing agreements
• Other players — Your display name, PAR rating, badges, and game results are visible on leaderboards and in matches. Your phone number is never shown to other users.
• Legal requirements — If required by law, court order, or government request

5. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on servers in Mumbai, India (AWS ap-south-1). We use encryption in transit (TLS 1.2+) and at rest. Access to personal data is restricted to authorized personnel only.

6. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required by law to retain it.

Anonymized, aggregated game statistics (e.g., question difficulty metrics) may be retained indefinitely as they cannot be linked back to you.

7. Your Rights

You can:

• Access your data — view your profile and game history in the app
• Correct your data — edit your display name and profile in settings
• Delete your account — contact us at hello@preparena.in and we will delete your account and data within 30 days
• Opt out of notifications — manage in your device settings

8. Children's Privacy

PrepArena is intended for students aged 15 and above preparing for NEET. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it promptly.

9. Third-Party Links

Our app may contain links to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third parties. We encourage you to read their privacy policies.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via an in-app notification. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
